These are some of the great things that have been happening for me recently!!!!

September 24,2009

Hi everyone!  I know it has been a really long time since my last update.  I have had alot of ups and downs over the past several months.  I have continued to get taller and taller.  Everytime I get taller, my hips decide to act up.  I am very thankful that Dr. Steve is in the building.

I tried to compete once over the summer, but had to withdrawl from the long due to my hips.  I made it through a very painful short.  I am happy to report that my hips are feeling much better.

I worked really hard this past summer.  I was a counciler at Camp Chill.  I worked with the camp in the morning, trained in the late morning and early afternoon, and then returned to work at the camp.  I had a really good time working with the kids.

I have made some very big decisions over the past few months as well.  My family lets me choose what coaches I work with.  I chose to make several coaching changes.  I have stopped working with a couple of coaches and picked up a new one.  I have been working with Uschi for about 2 months now and love it.  I have wanted to work with Uschi for a long time.  She has not only improved my jumps, but she also help me to become more confident.

Since I have had a lot of changes going on, I am not going to compete at regionals this year.  Instead, I am going to focus on my technique and improving my skating and performance skills.  I am also going to finally take my senior moves.  I have only been working on them for a couple of weeks, but it is time to get them over with.

OLD NEWS

April 29, 2009

Well, we just finished our club show.  It went really well and we all had a great time.  I was in two group numbers, "Love is a Battlefield" and "Single Ladies."  My solo was to the "Midnight Train to Georgia".  I skated while pretending to sing into a microphone.

I had bursitis in my hip so I have had to take it easy recently.  It caused me to have to scratch from the Philly Areas competition.  I am now able to work on all of my jumps and spins.

My next competition will be the Chesapeake Open in Laurel Maryland.  I am really looking forward to competing again.

Well, I have not updated the site for some time. Since the last update, South Atlantics has come and gone. I finished 24th overall. It was a very emotional time for me. I was disappointed with my skating, but am determined to compete better in the future. The PA State Games competition was held in York last month. It was the first competition with my new long program. I placed third. There is much more work ahead. My coaches and I just decided on music for my short program yesterday. Elizabeth will begin to choreograph it and then the hard work begins. For those of you who are curious about the MTV documentary, it is to be a two-hour movie. It is supposed to air on February 28th.

Well, the Falling Leaves Competition is behind me. I placed 5th in the short program and 4th in the long program. It wasn’t my best skate and it wasn’t my worst skate. I did attempt my double axle in competition for the first time. That was important. I two-footed the landing, but I finally did it in competition. The competition was held at Skate Nation in Glen Allen, VA. The rink has a laser tag center and my friends from Ice Works and I played laser tag. It was a lot of fun.

MTV has been filming four skaters from our rink for a documentary series. I am one of those to be featured in the documentary. So far it has been a good experience. The crew is nice and fun too. I’m not sure when it will be finished and air, but I will put the information on the website for anyone interested in watching.

The South Atlantic Regionals competition is next week and I have a sore throat and the beginnings of a cold. Hopefully it won’t last too long.

I am excited about the new dress for my long program. I designed it! I can’t wait to see the completed dress.

Well, I am off to the rink for a week of hard training.
September 8, 2008

Well, much has happened since my last post.

I was very sick for about six weeks and spent much of June and July off of the ice. I spent a lot of time in hospitals and with doctors to find out what was wrong with me. In the end it was decided that I had a viral infection.

I returned to the ice in August and had to work very hard to get back to the same level of ability prior to becoming ill.

I had to miss two competitions because I was unable to skate.

My first competition was August 16th in Atlantic City. I did my short program and placed 2nd. I competed in the Challenge Cup competition September 4th and 5th. Here, I did both short and long programs. I placed second overall.

The next competition is later this month in Glen Allen, VA - the Falling Leaves Competition.

...new home...new skates...new programs...new costumes...lots of new!

Training full time at Ice Works continues to be great. Living in the Philadelphia area is nice too and I am experiencing interesting new places and people. There is so much to see, do and learn about my new home.

Currently, I am working on new long and short programs. Philadelphia Areas is my next competition and it will be the first time for both of these new programs.

I have a new pair of skates. My feet are much happier now. All I need is a new dress for each program and I will be ready to go!

Many people make big sacrifices so that I am able to skate. Thanks to my parents, aunts and coaches -- I am a very lucky girl.

October 21st

Well, I love training full time at IceWorks.  I have been working really hard and having a lot of fun.

I just finished competing at Regionals.  I want to thank all of my friends and IceWorks parents and coaches who cheered me on.  I finished 2nd in the first round and 11th over all out of 98 girls.  I skated a clean long in the first round and a clean short in the second round.  My final round skate wasn't my best, but it was pretty good.  I am very proud of myself.  This was my first year competing Intermediate.  Good luck to all of my friends who made it to Junior Nationals.  Have a good time in Utah!

Congrats to Viktor for finishing 3rd in Senior Men and to Alexa for finishing 12th in Junior Ladies.

September 10th

Well, this is my last week living and training in Pittsburgh.  I am moving so that I can train full-time at IceWorks.  I am really excited!!!  I have wanted to make this move since I was 10.

Oh well, I better get packing!!!!

July 29th

Happy birthday to me!!!  I started my birthday off in Atlanta and ended it in Denver.  Our first flight on our way to Colorado was delayed for like 5 hours.  We got into Denver a day late.  We are off to Wyoming tomorrow for two days.  We are going to kick back and relax for two days before heading to Colorado Springs.

I passed my intermediate pairs test.  I also managed to get a concussion when I fell on my knees.  Go figure!  I lost two days of training time.  I didn't get to take any dance tests.  They couldn't get enough high level dance judges in this time.

Liberty was okay.  I made some really nice new friends and had a great time hanging out with Cassandra, Danielle, Nikki, Casey, Viktor and the rest of the gang.  I skated pretty well in my long.  I two footed by double axel and triple sal.  We all had a great time cheering on Viktor at his first USFS competition.  I also enjoyed watching the pairs.  The senior pairs were amazing!
July 10th

We had a really good time at the Summer Academy last week.  Jenn, Jessie and Alyssa made the trip.  We took Damjan with us to Philly for the 4th of July.  We did sightseeing thing and went to Hark Rock Cafe for dinner.  We went to Atlantic City after skating on Thursday.

I am staying with my Aunt Joan for the next few weeks. I am  competing in the Liberty Summer Competition next week.  The week after that is testing and then I am off to Colorado.  I will turn 13 when I am in Colorado.  Officially a teenager!

June 22nd

Well we had  a great time at the Chesapeake Open!  It's been a long time since I was at a competition with a lot of skaters and coaches from our club.  We had so much fun cheering everyone on.  We even had 20 people there at 8:00 to cheer on the little ones.  Everyone made a point of making sure they were there to support all of us.

I didn't have my best skates at Chesapeake, but it was a good learning experience.  I medaled in the short, but just missed a medal in the long.  I hung out with Ashlyn a lot.  We even all went out to lunch together.  I will get to see her again in 3 weeks.  We also went out to dinner with Elizabeth, and Deb, Hannah, Megan and their dad.  It was way fun!   Congrats to everyone for skating well.  Special congrats to Liza and Ben for coming in 2nd in Novice dance.  They really did a great job!

Summer is here!  I had a pretty easy week.  I took a couple of days off and went to a couple of places with my family.  Next week starts our trips to IceWorks for the Summer Academy.  I love going to camp at IceWorks.  Viktor and Damjan are both back.  I can't wait to see them!

I have decided to start working with Nicole on a weekly basis.  I got so much out of the little bit of time I have spent working with her.  I can't wait to get started!

June 9th

Well I had a great time at IceWorks the past two weeks.  My programs are getting much better.  I had a great time at Erins.  I spent two nights at her house, and we went an amusement park.

I am heading home today.  I will skate at BladeRunners for three days and then we leave for Maryland.  I will get to see a lot of my friends at the competition.  I am looking forward to seeing how my programs stand up to the IJS system.  We did a lot of work on my short program, and some on my long too.

May 31st

We had our Annual Club Awards and Stipends Meeting.  I got most improved for Juvenile freestyle for the 2006-2007 season.  I am getting a plaque.  I just thought I would mention that to give all of you who know the plaque story a  good laugh.  After all, IceWorks is where I won my first plaque, and the whole plaque thing began.

We also found out that Viktor is coming home in June.

May 28th

I hope everyone had a nice memorial day!  I rode my bike and went swimming.  Oh and we got a Wii!  It is so much fun to play.  I am all packed and getting ready to head back to Jersey tonight with my Aunt Joan.  I am going to get to stay for another 2 weeks!

Liz is back at IceWorks, so I will get to see her.  I have missed her a whole bunch.  She was in Canada for a couple of weeks taking care of her mother.  I think Oleg should be back this weekend too.  He went to Russia for a visit.  I don't know when Viktor is coming home.  He announced last week that he was leaving Austria and moving to the US for good.  He even left the Austrian federation and is going to represent the USA.  We have known that he was going to do this for a couple of months now.  But now the rest of the skating world knows it too.

My next competition is the Chesapeake Open.  It is going to be in Laurel, Maryland.  They posted the group listings.  I am going to get to see Ashlyn again!  We will be seeing each other once a month from April to August.  It will be so much fun.  Danielle and Cassandra are going to be there too along with Hannah, Megan, Liza and I think 9 other skaters from our club.  We are going to the competition a day earlier than I need to be there.  We are going to watch our clubs skaters and cheer them on.

We are having our club banquet on Thursday night.  We will get our stipend checks and they will hand out the club awards for things like most improved an most tests passed and stuff.

Congrat to Meredith on getting a dance partner.  They look great together!  It's nice to have another dance team at the rink.

May 15th

So I skated really well at Cherry Blossoms.  I stood up on my double axel and triple sal, so I was happy.  I made it to final round for the long program, so that was a good accomplishment.  It was the first time I competed in the IJS system.  We didn't even know they were going to use the IJS until 4 days before the competition.  I got to hang out with Emily, Erin, Ashlyn and Molly.  I had a really good time with them.  Congrats to Casey and Molly for making it to final round too.  Congrats to Jenn for winning her freestyle event. Go Jenn!

I also competed at Mt. Lebanon.  I had a lot of people there to cheer me on.  I had a great surprise when I got to the competition.  Ashlyn signed up late and made the trip from Florida to compete.  We had so much fun hanging out and playing in the park.  People thought we were from the same club and were surprised to find out that Ashlyn was from Florida and I from Pittsburgh but spent a lot of time in the Philly area.  I won all of my events (novice spins, intermediate short and intermediate long).  Ashlyn came in second in the short and 3rd in the long.  We all thought she should have had second in the long too, but she didn't.  I will get to see Ashlyn again at Liberty and State Games of America.

I am spending almost the entire month of May at my Aunt Joans.  That means that I am also getting to go to IceWorks a lot.  I have been working on my short program with Elizabeth.  I am also going to work with Nicole on my spins.  As usual, I am having a good time hanging out with Danielle, Lauren, Carter and the rest of the gang.

Erin and I started working on our showcase for Colorado.  We had a great time and laughed so much.  Marcia and Philip started naming gray hairs after us, which made us laugh even more.  We are going to work on our program again this weekend.

My next competition will be the Chesapeake Open.  There are a lot of skaters going from our club, so it should be fun.  I can't wait to watch the little kids skate.  They are so cute and they are getting really good!

April 18th

Well, our club show is over for another year.  I had a lot of fun hanging out with the girls.  Once again, the coaches did a number.  They were a lot of fun to watch.

Now I am getting ready for Cherry Blossoms.  I am working very hard on my long and my short.  It's the first time I will be competing under the new judging system.  Elizabeth designed my program for the new judging system, so I am looking forward to seeing how it goes.  I am also looking forward to seeing some of my friends that live in different states.  That's one of the best things about competitions.

Erin and I started working on a showcase for Colorado.  Marcia and Philip are working on it with us.  We are having a great time working on it.

Congrats to Jenn!  She did a great job at Nationals.  She is going to compete at Cherry Blossoms in both Freestyle and Dance with her partner Alan.

March 26th

As usual, things have been kind of busy recently.  The Dance Classic and Philadelphia Areas went pretty well.  I had a good time with my friends.  I won my first Intermediate Long event and made it to final round at Area's.

I finally managed to get my Juvenile Pairs test taken.  My test session got cancelled twice and then Philip got really sick and couldn't take me thru the test.  But our club came to the rescue.  The club officers working with a couple of judges got the SC of Wilmington to let me test there.   It was quite an adventure, but the test went really well.  Now I can start working on my Intermediate Pairs test program.

I have yet another busy week ahead of me.  I am going to NJ Thursday morning.  My cousin Kelly is marrying Kenny this weekend and I am a bridesmaid.  We have the rehersal and rehersal dinner Thursday night.  Friday morning I am going to U of D for a pairs lesson with Philip and then on to IceWorks to work with Oleg and Elizabeth.  Friday night we are all going to see Blades of Glory.  I can't wait.  It looks really funny.  Saturday is the wedding!  We all really like Kenny, so we are happy he is going to officially be part of the family.

February 24th

Things have been kind of busy recently.  Keystones went pretty well.  I had a good time with my friends.  The skaters from my club all skated well.  The little ones were so cute!  Our club came in second, so we got to take home a trophy again this year.

I am still trying to test my Kilian and Juvenile Pairs test.  My test session got cancelled twice.  Once because some judges were sick and again because of the weather.  I am going to be testing the same weekend as the Dance Classic.

My next competition is in two weeks.  I will be competing in the IceWorks Dance Classic.  I like being able to compete at my home rink.  I know I am going to have a lot of fun.  After that it's onto Philadelphia Areas and Cherry Blossoms.

We are starting to work on our numbers for the club show.   My group number is to Jump and Move.  There are a lot of really good skaters in my group.  I know we are going to have a great time working on it.  I still don't know what song I am skating to for my solo, but I should find out soon.

I haven't been to IceWorks in two weeks.  I can't wait to go back this weekend.

Before I go, I want to wish Jenn and megan good luck at Sectionals!

January 21st

Well, I got to spend two weeks at IceWorks.  I had so much fun.  My new long program is great.  I really love it.  I did have a really bad fluky fall.  Dr. Steve fixed me up.  We are so lucky to have Dr. Steve at the rink.

It's that time of year.  Keystones is a couple days away.  Like always, Jessie and I are going to IceWorks on Thursday and then stopping at the outlets in Lancaster on our way to York.  A lot of people from our club are joining us for our traditional Friday night dinner.  It's going to be so much fun!!!   I like Keystones because I get to see a lot of my friends from other rinks.

I am going to the University of Delaware Thursday morning for a pairs lesson with Philip.  I am testing my Juvenile pairs test in a couple of weeks, so we need to do some program work.

Bye!

January 7th

I hope everyone had  great Holidys!   Mine was great!  I got my laptop.  I also want to welcome Jenn back to the good ole US of A.

I am off to IceWorks tomorrow for a few days of training.  I am getting my new intermediate long program.   I love the music.  Hugo and Studio Unisons edited it for me again this year.  He does a great job!  Hopefully it will be ready for Keystones.

I can't wait to get to the rink and spend some time with my friends that don't usually skate on Saturdays.

I had really good lessons last Saturday.  I got a day off from throws with Philip.  We worked on spins, death spirals, lifts and our program.  We are really starting to go faster with the lifts.   My friend Erin started taking lessons with Philip this weekend.  I'm really happy she is working with Philip now.  We will get to see each other every week.

Toodles!
December 19th

Congrats to all of my friends who competed at JN's and Easterns.

I have been having a grand ole time training at home and at IceWorks.  We exchanged gifts at IceWorks last weekend.  Liz gave us pink bathrobes this year.  They are so warm, fuzzy and comfy.  Jessie and I wore ours at the rink.  This weekend we are going to all have cookies and hot chocolate.

I am getting a new long program, so I will get to spend a week or two at IceWorks after New Years.  Hugo is cutting my music now.  I can't wait to hear it and starting working on it with Elizabeth.

My dances are going well.  Oleg taught me the quickstep last week.  It's a fun dance.

My lessons with Philip have been great.  I really look forward to my Philip lessons.  My lifts are getting so much better.  We started working on my Juv pairs test program last Saturday.  It's a lot of fun.

Our holiday show at BladeRunners was really good again this year.  I skated really well.  My solo was to The Christmas Shoes.   Pretty soon we will start working on the club show at IceWorks.  I don't know what this years theme will be, or what song my solo will be to.  Viktor is going to skate in this years show too.

I am off to the rink.

Happy Holidays!!!!!!!!
